12 May 09 - 18:49Firestone

It was before the controversy actually came out.  The controversy came out 9 years ago this month in May of 2000.  But about a year before that in May of 1999, I was young, and I didn’t really understand the whole of what happened.  But I remember the day when my grandma died.  A few of the relatives had gone up to pick her up at the local airport, and they were all on their way down when one of the tires blew out, exploded.  Anyway, they ended up rolling over several times, and everybody was killed.  Long story short, they were brand new Firestone tires.  My grandpa at that time ended up starting a lawsuit against Firestone, because obviously they were seriously defective, in combination with the immediate families of the other people who died.  It has now been 10 years, and they just barely settled the case, now paying the families quite a bit of money.  But why did it take 10 years?

25 April 09 - 16:53From Robber To Rape Victim

Now this is too good. I mean I’ve heard of people reacting in a lot of different ways to robbers. I mean with the way the world is going, I might not be surprised to hear about some robbery victim taking them down to test supposed acne medication they were developing because they were unaccepted by that community and psychotic like Charles Manson or something. That would be some luck huh. But anyway, in a small town in Russia, Meshchovsk, a hairdresser managed to take down a man who tried to rob her, and then she turned him into her sex slave and raped him for 3 days in the utility room. That is not one I would’ve expected. I mean raping someone who just tried to rob you? Wow. There was the woman who basically grabbed the guy who was trying to rape her putting him in so much pain while she called the cops. But she was brave and had him arrested. He subsequently sued her for sexual harassment…..I’m surprised it wasn’t just laughed out of court. But seriously? ... (more)

08 April 09 - 16:44Kal Penn

Kal Penn, you may know him off of Harold and Kumar or as Dr Kutner in the TV show House. He is apparently moving to the white house. No more botox or plastic surgery for him at this point, maybe just an eye cream and maintenance instead. But if you watch house, he was one of the students of sorts of Dr House. Other characters have left House’s company to play smaller parts in the show, and when they initially left, we thought they might not be coming back. They went to other hospitals for a time and then came back. But with Penn’s character, they decided to do something else, killing him off via suicide. Dr Taub, who used to be a plastic surgeon, cheated on his wife, etc. would have been a more likely candidate. But Dr Kutner’s suicide came out of nowhere. There were no warning signs, and it left even House, as well as the audience, grasping at straws in terms of how to explain it. ... (more)

26 March 09 - 19:20Obama And The Special Olympics

I keep hearing about Obama and his Special Olympics joke. I couldn’t find what it actually was. Everything is an “incident” with him it seems. All my news really comes from the iVote application on my iPhone. I finally found a clip of the “incident.” I mean it’s one thing to make fun of the acne prone teenager who’s suffering through yet another series of bad acne treatments. But it’s something else to make fun of the Special Olympics. I watched, I heard, I wondered. It wasn’t necessarily in good taste or the best thing to say. But he was mostly making fun of himself, and frankly I wasn’t all that offended. I can be easily offended, but try not to be. He was trying to have a sense of humor about his own failures and inadequacies in sports. We’ve all said something stupid like that without thinking. Some of us have said it in our area’s public eye too. But most of us have not been severely reprimanded for something like this. ... (more)

21 March 09 - 16:43Jerry Springer Is An Act!

I saw a recent Jerry Springer, which I realize is made up and that’s why I can laugh at this. But they had the midget KKK! I think the klan doesn’t like any kind of disease or deformity or anything out of the normal. Being that the majority of the population does not qualify as a midget or a dwarf, that would be irregular....and unfamiliar. But anyway, I was looking at them, and I was thinking you know the regular KKK wears sheets and stuff. But sheets, even the twin bed, are really small. So would they cut holes for the eyes and wear men’s socks due to smaller proportions? I mean I recognize those socks would have to be stretchy or whatnot. But there are robbers of regular size who have worn women’s underhose or something. So at this point, really nothing would surprise me. Either way, I am genuinely curious. I mean I don’t think there is an actual midget KKK. Most gangs are made up of people who feel fairly helpless on their own, but when they get together, they ... (more)

02 March 09 - 15:58Making Hydroxycut Look Good

There are some diet pills now coming to light for using prescription drugs. It is to the point where they are actually making Hydroxycut look good. I mean don’t get me wrong. Coming from a former ephedra company, all but one have really failed to recover, and that’s ZCA Stack. But some are just worse than others. The thing here is that these companies were actually using various prescription drugs, some not even legal in the US, in their products. They weren’t telling anyone, because obviously production would be shut down in short order. Starcaps was one of them, and apparently some of the “Brazilian” diet pills are also included. Some of them were diuretics, relaxants, all sorts of fun stuff. It’s just one of those matters of are you kidding me? I mean how dangerous are some natural ingredients like yohimbine or ephedra. You want to add to those risks? Starcaps got caught because an NFL player who apparently really didn’t use illegal substances decided that ... (more)

02 March 09 - 12:59True Legends

Have you ever wondered which Urban Legends are true and which are just urban legends? They now have sites, books, and free directories to tell you just that. I know, what are we coming to that we really need that many resources for this? But there are apparently enough people, just like there are enough people that believe in aliens abductions as well as those who participate in resurges of extreme groups like the KKK whenever they get stressed out by a political situation or other situations. With those groups, they are apparently relatively average people that don’t really stand out before that, and then they randomly change. But for example, there are various urban legends about cars alone, usually about amazing gas mileage and some experimental car company being bought out by the oil companies only for the original owner to keep it in his own cars or big car companies actually stealing back experiments they were conducting when a letter was written in to ...
